Closing Day Is Almost Here!

Closing day marks the end of your home-buying process and the beginning of life in your new home!

Prepare for It-

To make sure your closing goes smoothly, you should bring the following with you to your title company on closing day:

* Cashier's check for total of all closing costs and down payment. Make the check payable to the title company at closing.

*  Drivers license or Photo IDs

* Your spouse - whether they are on the loan or not

What Will Happen:

Transfer of title moves ownership of the property from the seller to you. The two

events that make this happen are:

*Delivery of the buyer's funds

     This is the check or wire funds provided by your lender for the amount of the loan.

*Delivery of the deed

     A deed is the document that transfers ownership of real estate. The deed names

     the seller and buyer, gives a legal description of the property, and contains the

     notarized signatures of the seller and witnesses.

Other Checklist Items:

*Have your new home owner’s insurance policy in place.

*Schedule utilities to transfer into your name at your new home starting on the closing date.

*Have your mail sent to your new address. You can use The Official Change of Address Form online or go to the Post Office.
